The Great Game
A string of geopolitical events, dating back to the 1979 Soviet invasion of
Afghanistan, has revived the Great Game of conflicting strategic interests
that has been waged in the “Af-Pak” region since the time of Alexander the
Great.
Today, as the “Asian century” advances, it is unrivalled as a global trouble
spot: the borders of three – potentially four – nuclear weapons powers
coincide at a point designated the “epicentre of global terrorism” by the
Obama administration.
